Superman Returns teaser trailer

Sunday, November 20th, 2005

Go here for the afore mentioned Superman Returns teaser. Doesn’t it just give you goosebumps?

I’ve watched it SO many times and it just gets better everytime. I never thought I would feel this way about the new Superman film but I do tend to forget just how much I loved the first one.

Superman is just one of those guys; he’s an icon. He’s meant to inspire, to generate wonder and excitement

And maybe, with Superman Returns, we’ll see that again… :)

What coloured lightsaber would you have?

Orange Lightsaber
Orange is your Lightsaber color.

Orange represents energy and enthusiasm. It also symbolizes strength and endurance. People with orange lightsabers are curious about life, and the world around them. Fascination catches them at every turn, and they are creative enough to understand life’s potential.

Time for bed

Sunday, November 13th, 2005

or “it’s after five in the morning and I’m fecked”.

Okay, so I didn’t get anywhere near as many words done as I would have hoped but I’m up to 10,700 which isn’t terribly bad.

I’m at the begining of a new scene which has echos of a previous one so it should be easier to write. Or, at least, that’s the plan.

Anyway, enough of this carp, I’m off to bed. It’s been a long day. No point in making it even longer…

All Night Writing

Sunday, November 13th, 2005

Or at least that’s the plan. :)

I rattled off a page and a half of A4 before the hangover and resulting de-hydration from my “only a few pints” night on the piss friday night made the prospect of writing anything else a step closer to a place closely resembling hell…

But right now, at just before half one in the morning, I have that all important second wind.

So now, as the good lady goes off to bed, I’m going to get down to my pants, break open a beer and get some damn writing done.

See you all on the other side of dawn… ;)

Day 9 NaNoWriMo 2005

Thursday, November 10th, 2005

Target: 15003 (or thereabouts)
Current: 8000

So I didn’t make my individual target for today or the target by day 9. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow.

And there’s the all-nighter I intend to pull on Friday night. In fact I think I might just see if I can write all the way through the weekend, stopping only for church, food and pooping.

I can get all the sleep I need at work on Monday. It’s not like I have to do anything else (except work, of course).

Must get away from the pc

Wednesday, November 9th, 2005

… because I’m not going to get any writing done if I don’t.

It’s like a magnet, pulling me away from achieving what need to get done.

And I need at least 2000 word done tonight…

Breaking the back of the week

Wednesday, November 9th, 2005

Well, I’m three days down and two to go until the weekend.

That sounds pathetic, doesn’t it?

But after two weeks of holiday, rest and relaxation I’m really struggling to get through work. I suppose that’s the same for everyone, or at least for everyone who has a crappy job for a crappy company.

I might be in luck though. It’s looking increasingly likely that Scottish Power will be bought. Hopefully by people who know how to run a company…

NaNoWriMo 2005

Tuesday, November 8th, 2005

Every year since 1999, in the month of November, many budding authors have tried their luck at NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month.

The aim is to write a 50,000 word novel, or 50,000 words of a novel, in the 30 days of November. Aye right.

Or is that aye write?

Sorry, that was pathetic, but I couldn’t resist it… But seriously, a 50,000 word novel in a month? Who’s daft enough to try that?

A surprising number of people actually. And that includes yours truly. :)

Last year I managed the hugely impressive amount of 63, yes that’s 63, words before the wall descended and blocked any and all access to both my imagination and the english language.

This time, however, things are going better. Now I’m up to approx. 7200 words and I’m only on day 8. I know technically I’m behind my daily minimum of 1667 words but I’m feeling a hell of a lot better about it this time around.

Even if I get past 13,000 words then I’ve beat my personal best and that was a feeble attempt at stringing all the fragments and beginnings of stories I’ve done over the years into one big story.

This, at least, has as air of cohesiveness about it.

The standard 1st post

Tuesday, November 8th, 2005

As the title suggests, this is the obligatory first post which gives absolutely nothing away as to the purpose of this blog…

It uses Blosxom though and very good it is too.
