Yeah, recently after a heavy period of being disillusioned with the ol’ writing I made the bold move of putting The Bandstand excerpt up on a Sci-Fi forum because they have a critique section.
It’s easier to show friends work you’ve done as, unless it’s dreadful, you’re guaranteed a favourable reception. But to put work somewhere specifically for the purpose of having it analysed by people you DON’T know is a definite heart in the throat moment.
But the response was positive, giving me ideas for where to go next and mistakes to avoid.
So, I’m back in the saddle and feeling good.
